FIFA world no. 1 Argentina (0-1-0, 0 points) will shake off their surprise opening day beating as they play Paraguay (1-0-0, 3 points) at the Estadio Defensores del Chaco in Asunción on October 13 for a matchday 2 clash in the CONMEBOL 2018 World Cup qualifying tournament.
The Argentinians, who are currently without main man Lionel Messi due to injury, was stunned by lowly Ecuador, 0-2, at their own home turf of Estadio Antonio Vespucio Liberti in Buenos Aires last Thursday.
A couple of late goals within one minute by Los Amarillos defender Frickson Erazo and striker Felipe Caicedo put the game away in favor of Gustavo Quinteros' side, as per Four Four Two.
Gerardo Martino's boys are seemingly in control of the entire match until Erazo pulled off a header against Sergio Romero's outstretched arms to put the Ecuadorians on top, 1-0, at the 81st. A minute later, it was Caicedo's turn to score with a nicely-executed counter attack.
Meanwhile, Paraguay beat Venezuela, 1-0, in their opening day match at the Estadio Cachamay in Ciudad Guayana, Venezuela on October 8, via Goal.
Dynamo Kyiv striker Derlis González scored the lone goal of the match to give the Paraguayans a much-needed initial three points in the overall standings.
La Albiceleste is expected to redeem themselves in this match versus Los Guaraníes as their other stars Sergio Agüero, Ángel Di María, Ezequiel Lavezzi, and Ángel Correa try to unleash their offensive games.
The predicted result is a 4-0 blowout win for Argentina.
