The big bad of Dean Israelite's forthcoming hero film "Power Rangers" has been revealed.

Sources told Collider that fans would be seeing the villain Scorpina in Israelite's upcoming "Power Rangers" film. According to the publication, Scorpina is Rita Repulsa's cruel and threatening follower who is set to return to torment the titular team.

Scorpina would not be alone in the film, as she had brought an army, which she would use to combat the Power Rangers and their Megazords. In case her army got defeated, Scorpina also had the ability to morph into a gigantic scorpion to take down the titular heroes, as per Cinema Blend. At this point, fans would see the Power Rangers deal with her, instead of Repulsa and Lord Zedd.

In addition to this revelation, Israelite's film is also set to open with an epic battle scene. According to the report, the Power Rangers were defending the Morphin Grid, which is an energy field that gives power to every single generation of the Rangers. Aside from enabling them to morph into their hero forms, the Morphin Grid also allows them access the Rangers' memory timeline to get information and build battle strategies.

Recently, "The Martian" actress Naomi Scott has been cast as Kimberly the Pink Ranger in Israelite's upcoming film while the casting for the roles of Zack the Black Ranger and Jason the Red Ranger has not been finalized.

"Power Rangers" follows a group of teenagers who can morph into superheroes who wear colored costumes tasked to fight monsters that threaten Earth, along with the giant robots called Zords. The Zords can be summoned to battle colossal aliens and they can also assemble themselves into a single fighting robot.

Aside from Israelite as the film's director, "X-Men: First Class" writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are on board to pen the script of the upcoming "Power Rangers."

Israelite's new "Power Rangers" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Jan. 13, 2017.
