The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 was commended for its 5.7-inch screen display, earning it the top spot of the most popular smartphones, according to a survey that was carried out earlier this year by the American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).

Chinese tech giant Huawei, on the other hand, is now launching a new smartphone, the Mate S handset, in several countries, after unveiling the device at last month's IFA 2015 event in Germany.

The Huawei Mate S sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED display screen with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, protected by the latest Gorilla Glass 4. The Mate S runs on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system (OS) along with the Emotion UI 3.1 on top, and comes with a fingerprint sensor. The Mate S has a 13 megapixel camera on the back and an 8 megapixel camera on the front.

Inside, the phone packs Huawei's own HiSilicon Kirin 935 processor along with 3GB of RAM, up to a 128GB internal memory option, and a 2700 mAh battery. The memory can expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

The Huawei Mate S has been available for pre-orders in Europe, and is now heading its way to Malaysia on Oct. 22, according to GSM Arena.

As for Samsung's latest Galaxy Note 5 smartphone, it retains the same 5.7-inch sized display screen with a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. The phone comes with an S Pen stylus and a fingerprint sensor.

In addition, the Galaxy Note 5 comes with a sharp 16 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5 megapixel front-facing shooter. Under the hood, the phone has Samsung's own Exynos 7420 processor, a whopping 4GB RAM, a non-expandable 64GB built-in memory, and a larger 3000 mAh battery.

Samsung recently unveiled two new color options for the Galaxy Note 5, Android Headlines reported. The new colors are pink gold and silver titanium, available in South Korea on Oct. 23.
