Shovel Knight will reportedly not make the final cut of the planned Nintendo DLC for the Super Smash Bros game franchise, a new report said. It's chiefly an issue on incompatibility or lack of enthusiasm on part of Shovel Knight's creator, the report added.

According to Ecumenical News, game developer Yacht Club Games took to Twitter to announce that Shovel Knight will not be part of the Super Smash adventure any time soon. Suggestions that the character was shortlisted as Nintendo's DLC for the game title are inaccurate, the Twitter post said.

"Appreciate the enthusiasm for the idea, but I believe this listing was made in error," Yacht Club reportedly said.

It appears that there will be issues in compatibility, which likely explains the hesitation on part of the developer to support Shovel Knight's entry to the Smash Bros. universe. The Shovel Blade-wielding would have been an exciting addition to the Super Smash gameplay as Vine Report noted of the character's powerful capabilities.

Rumors have it that Shovel Knight topped the Super Smash poll conducted by Nintendo, in which fans were asked to nominate the characters they would to see inside of the brawling game. But such information remains unconfirmed as the Japanese gaming giant is yet to disclose the results of the survey that wrapped up last October.

If indeed Shovel Knight is out of the running, the attention will likely shift to the Inklings of the Splatoon game title. The Inklings, according to reports, fit to the rumors that described the upcoming Super Smash DLC character - a newcomer that packs excitement.

The Inklings joining the Super Smash melee should be a welcome addition to the title as Vine Report said that the characters will surely bring in fresh gameplay texture to the title. Apart from carrying powerful weapons, the Inklings can magically transform from a kid to a squid and back when needed.

To date, Nintendo is yet to comment on matters relating to the upcoming Super Smash Bros. DLC but speculations are rife that at least three new characters are all geared up for a grand introduction soon.
