China's leading internet TV company Youku Tudou Incorporated has acquired exclusive rights to produce and air the Chinese-version of "The Voice Kids" from Talpa Holding, the international entertainment company that created the hit talent show.
The Chinese internet site merger of Youku and Tudou, now dubbed as China's biggest online video website, has recently obtained "The Voice Kids" franchise, making them the only one to have legal rights to produce the world-famous talent show.
According to reports, "The Voice of China Kids" would be managed mainly by the company's Tudou division.
In a statement, Tudou President Weidong Yang expressed his excitement with their newest project that will surely become a hit in the country.
"We're excited to bring this worldwide hit format to China and its integration into the Youku Tudou media and entertainment ecosystem will add further appeal beyond its already great interactive, participatory quality and unique design," Weidong stated.
Furthermore, he acknowledged that the show would provide a great opportunity for talented children to showcase their talents and express their inner voice.
Dutch media tycoon and "The Voice" creator John de Mol echoed Yang's enthusiasm that after pioneering in China, "The Voice Kids" would become a high-rated and well-recognized program all over the world.
"With the huge success of 'The Voice of China,' I believe 'The Voice of China Kids' will receive massive attention and generate a huge amount of buzz for the Chinese audience," he said.
The Tudou and Talpa partnership in bringing the show to China is seen as a move that would help with Youku Tudou's multiscreen media and entertainment ecosystem.
Though it would retain the classic format which includes blind auditions, battle rounds and intensive coaching, Tudou's version of "The Voice of China Kids" would have unique content that would cater to younger and edgier audiences.
