WWE Raw Review: The Road To Redemption For Roman
That fateful March at Wrestle-mania 31 where Seth Rollins did an ambush which was almost like the wrestling equivalent of the Italian job, left former Shield-brother Roman Reigns and the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar devastated.
Rollins who was well established in the Authority at this point was making assured steps to WWE's too prize. Along the way, another one of Seth's brothers Dean Ambrose lost the chance to have the briefcase contract himself.
Ever since Rollins did win the WWE title, lame defences of the title haver followed since. Wins over Randy Orton, John Cena and Sting are impressive - but were fortunate to say the least.
In that time that Seth has been winning matches and establishing himself as one of the top heels in the company, Reigns has been trying to win back the crowd. Roman Reigns is one of the best wrestlers on the roster, but last year the way he was pushed seemed a bit too forced.
The Powerhouse hasn't won any singles titles as of yet and that might make the decision to give him the top belt in WWE a surprise. Having said that though WWE creative have done that with Seth Rollins and he isn't doing too badly now.
It wasn't Reigns' fault, the fact that the WWE universe didn't take to him. This was a time when the hysteria of people wanting Daniel Bryan to win the Royal Rumble was bad. When Reigns won this year's Royal Rumble instead of fans favourite Bryan, the hatred towards the Samoan fighter was fever pitch.
Noticing that their headline act was a figure of hate by the WWE universe, creative decided to do a straight one and one fight with Roman Reigns and Bryan at the new event called fast lane. It was clear what Vince and co were doing, they were trying to appease the WWE fans, but also give Roman a push through a different way.
Daniel Bryan as we know would go on to lose that match at Fast Lane, but the Raw after that event, the leader of the Yes Movement backed The Big Dowg to win against Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 31.
This was the turning point for Reigns. Although still getting booed, Reigns produced a blockbuster performance at New Orleans - and I think this was the start of Roman belonging in WWE.
The former Shield member was doing something that others haven't, that was to be able to go toe to toe with Lesnar. The boos were turning into cheers, Roman Reigns was almost there.
Then Seth Rollins showed up. It was like the Montreal screw job all over again. From that point onwards WWE have been careful the way they have booked Reigns, but it's clear to see this Samoan wrestler will be one of the most prized assets of the WWE very soon.
