Facebook users who are tired and angry at repetitive game invites from their friends, particularly Candy Crush, would be happy to know that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg promised to remove the annoying invites.
He made the promise while speaking at an event in India when he discovered through an online survey that Candy Crush invites top the list of gripes among Facebook users, reports Refinery29.
Zuckerberg told the audience, "I sent a message to the person who runs the team in charge of our developer platform, and I said that by the time I do this town hall Q&A, it would be good if we had a solution to this problem."
He added, "She emailed me later that night, and said there are some tools - that are kind of outdated - that allow people to send invitations to people who've never used a game, and don't play games on Facebook. We hadn't prioritized shutting that down, we had other priorities. But if this is the top thing that people care about, we'll prioritize that and do it," quotes Time.
Because of the game invites, some Facebook users had "unfriended" in the most popular social media portal even if some of them remain friends in real life. The problem is that game invites are sent universally to everyone on one's friend list, even those who do not play games.
Besides flooding a member's notifications, the game invites could be annoying since it comes with a sound notification that could be disturbing if someone is writing or reading or in a meeting over the internet and a notification interrupts, only to find it is a "stupid" game invite. This has resulted in several post in Facebook that ask friends not to send them game invites.
Some posts are worded more strongly. JP Fenix warns, "Two choices for those who persist on sending me candy crush and other game invites: either I unfriend you or I send you the stinkiest, nastiest porn I can find on the net."
UK-based Arlene Blanco Miranda Cox writes, "Please please stop inviting me to play Candy Crush .... I'm not interested cause I don't want to be addicted like you guys." Shiraz Mistry points out, "True friends will NOT invite you to candy crush!"
