Two guards who are doing very well at the start of the season are at the forefront of the latest NBA trade rumors.

Kyle Lowry has made an aggressive push to improve himself in the offseason and he has shown the early results. However, is he the right point guard for the Toronto Raptors?

Lowry was named by Howard Beck in this Bleacher Report video as the player most likely to be traded. Beck mentioned that the Raptors have "leveled out" and that this team has reached their peak. Raptors HQ also voiced a similar sentiment last June.

"As a GM with championship aspirations, it makes sense for Masai (Ujiri) to put all his cards on the table as he seeks a fair value trade."

One trade that would not set them that far back is to send Kyle Lowry for Ricky Rubio. The Spaniard has also been heavily rumored to be on the block and could be a better fit for the Raptors as Sir Charles In Charge contends.

"If the Wolves want to get rid of Rubio, he could probably be traded. He's young, one of the better, if not the best, passers in the league and is probably a consistent jump shot away from being one of the better point guards in the NBA."

The Raptors have players like DeMar DeRozan and Terrence Ross who could benefit from Rubio being more of a pass-first point guard than Lowry. Also, with Lowry at his peak, Ujiri can demand other assets, even future protected picks for the upgrade.

Yes, Lowry would be an upgrade for Rubio and a definite veteran presence for the very young T-Wolves. His presence would hasten the team's development and maybe even bring them in play for a top free agent.
