Taiwanese actor Eddie Peng was recently named "Longines Ambassador of Elegance" at the Longines Singapore Gold Cup 2014 on Sunday.

Amid his busy schedule in promoting his latest film "Rise of the Legend," Peng, clad in a dashing black suit, attended the event and even entertained a pre-interview with the media at the Fullerton Bay Hotel.

Peng said that he may now be called the "elegance ambassador," but elegance can be possessed by anyone in all sorts of ways. Elegance, in his words, is the ability to be confident in facing life and learn from its experiences.

The 32-year-old actor was thrilled when he realized he would be able to give his mother a watch from Longines. Peng said that his mother often complained that he never gave her a watch as a gift.

In "Rise of the Legend," Peng plays the role of Wong Fei Hung who was pushed to spend a year honing his Nanquan (Chinese martial arts) skills. The actor hopes he would be able to follow the footsteps of martial arts greats like Jet Li and Jackie Chan.

Even if some critics compare Peng to his senior counterparts, he thinks of the opportunity as something not to give up on. He admits that the iconic character is somehow stressful to portray.

"It's up to the audience to decide if they like my performance, but I am happy that I took up the challenge," he said.

Despite the long hours filming the movie, Peng said that he counts it as blessings especially after he met several professional wushu masters and producer Sammo Hung, who is his stepfather in the film.
