"Games of Thrones" season 6 will air later than expected. Despite the fact that it was commissioned by HBO on April 8, 2014, it is most likely that season 6 will premiere sometime in April or around May 2016.

 The movie began filming in July this year and is speculated that it will be released later in 2016 though the exact release dates have not been confirmed.

Generally, in the past, "Game of Thrones" would premiere within a week or so of Easter and the official confirmation dates usually came in January. So some fans and analysts have been predicting that that season 6 of "Games of Thrones" will have an epic showdown between Cersei and the Queen of Thrones, Vanity Fair reported.

Diana Rig, who plays Olenna Tyrell on this show, confirmed during an interview, that the pair will challenge each other, Cinema Blend reported. She also confirmed that HBO will be employing so many British actors to be part of this season.

Some spoilers suggest that season six of "Games of Thrones" will see the death of some known characters. Other sources revealed that Sophie Turner was spotted filming at the battlefield and that White Walkers will not be a part of this battle. What is more, this season will also see the return of Jon Snow.

In other stories, rumors have it that "Games of Thrones" season 6 release date could be pushed much further to accommodate the much-anticipated book "Winds of Winter."
