Apple seeded this week Beta 2 of iOS 9.2 to developers, which indicates that version 9.1 will soon give way to the latest iOS build. The imminent firmware update also means that all iDevices - iPhone (from 4S and up), iPad and iPod - running on iOS 9.xx will soon get fresh feature upgrades.
Four of the likely improvements are listed below:
Better performance and bugs fixes
By default, every jump to a new iOS version includes performance improvements and corrections on glitches identified in the most immediate predecessor. Testers of the latest 9.2 beta reported of better multitasking in the iPhone 4S while the reported 3D Touch and App Switcher lags in the iPhone 6S have disappeared. Once iOS 9.2 is made public, all iPhone users are bound to experience these fixes and other enhancements.
Siri gets new language packs
Beta 2 of iOS 9.2 also previewed Arabic support for Siri that certainly will be made official for 9.2 on its final cut, which should be a welcome addition for millions of iPhone and iPad users outside of the English-speaking world.
Safari extensions
For fans of Apple's built-in mobile browser, Safari, the app is seen to get new extensions as hinted in the latest 9.2 beta build. According to Gotta Be Mobile, things will speed as Safari will expand on its support of third-party extensions such as password managers LassPass and 1Password.
"This change is going to be extremely useful to those of you that use services like 1Password or LastPass because you'll be able to login quicker using these new extensions," GBM said.
NumberSync by AT&T
AT&T subscribers rejoiced when the telco activated Wi-Fi calling on iOS 9 and in support of the move, Beta 2 of the operating system introduced the network's NumberSync that allows router-based calls from devices, mobile or desktops, that are synced with a specific AT&T number.
This could prove as the biggest jump packed by Apple with the iOS 9.2 release date so this is as good as a go, GBM reported.
