While it is remote that they could join the Super Smash Bros. 4 brawling anytime soon, Nintendo should give some hard thinking on the possibility of packing the Yo-Kais from 'The Yo-Kai Watch' with the upcoming game DLC. The game title recently debuted on 3DS.

Already a rousing success in Japan, the Yo-Kais indeed are lovable as the Pokémon was that The Verge said in a report, "Pikachu has some competition." Based on a mythical Japanese creature, the Yo-Kais like the Pokémon, come in two types - the friendlies and the mischievous. It is apparent, however, that Nintendo took great pains in ensuring that the 3DS-based Yo-Kais are distinct from their folklore cousins, The Verge added.

The Yo-Kai adventure centers on Nate or Katie, Tech Times said, noting that players get to choose the main character they prefer. Regardless, any of the two is given a magical watch that becomes the tool to see and communicate with the Yo-Kais. Minus the watch, the creatures are inaccessible and mainly because of the same watch Nate or Katie can befriend them.

Now the main texture of the game is because "most of the Yo-Kais are like mischievous spirits ... and invisible creatures," serving as the backdrop of the classic battle between good and evil. And it helps that Nintendo made sure that The Yo-Kai Watch on 3DS has the crucial elements to lure in gamers - loveable and charming characters, witty writing and a modern setting that is a huge departure from Pokémon.

But really the point is, the Yo-Kais have the perfect ingredients for a smashing debut in the event that Nintendo will see it fit to allow the creatures to slug it out with the Smashers. They are both endearing and powerful in the same way that the Inklings from Splatoon are. And they command solid following, which is the chief reason why to begin with the Shovel Knight was rumored as among the three character add-ons to the Super Smash world.

It should be noted that the Yo-Kais are creation by Level-5, the same outfit responsible for Professor Layton, which is among the long list of characters that Nintendo is rumored to pick from the next Smasher. Somehow, that makes the Yo-Kais likely candidates.

And as the stream of rumored DLC characters continue to flow in, the Yo-Kais from The Yo-Kai Watch joining in the Super Smash Bros. 4 fun is breath of fresh air, more so if it becomes a reality.
