WWE Champion Seth Rollins suffered a knee injury at a live event in Dublin, and as a result, he will miss the championships for about 9 months because of the damaged caused to his ligameture.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has torn his right ACL, MCL and medial meniscus, and will not be able to defend the title against Roman Reigns at Survivor Series. A tournament to determine a new champion will instead take place at the event. As first reported on Twitter by ESPN, Rollins suffered the injury last night at a WWE Live Event in Dublin, Ireland, and is expected to miss six to nine months of action.

The story about Seth Rollins' injury actually appeared on Twitter through two fans who were at the event, according to Wrestling Inc.

WWE said that details on the Survivor Tournament to decide the new champion after Seth Rollins' injury have not been officially announced. Now, Sheamus holds the Money-in-the-Bank contract giving him a guarantee to have the anytime, anywhere title match. As a result, fans who have been eager to see the match happening may not wait for long.

According to Daily DDt, while many of the speculated participants for the Survivor Series were not in the title hunt at first, the challenge for the WWE will be in managing talent across the teams. The Undertaker, Kane, and two mystery opponents are supposed to face off against the Wyatt Family.

WWE champion Seth Rollins' injury has unintentionally made the Survivor Series PPV much more compelling, but the long-term implications, as the WWE heads into Royal Rumble and WrestleMania is still unclear.
