The wild panda and its young, the photos of which were taken with infrared cameras, were wandering in the Wujiao Nature Reserve in the Tibetan-Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Aba.

An administration official of the nature reserve said that this is the third time that an adult giant panda has been pictured in the area this year, but the first time that a cub was seen with one.

Hu Xueyu, head of the administration office of the Wujiao Nature Reserve, said that the cub "is only a few months old."

"Giant panda cubs always live with their mother until they are two-and-half to three years old," Hu said.

The Wujiao Nature Reserve is home to 26 rare animals, including snow leopards, gnus and golden monkeys.

Wujiao, located 45 kilometers southeast of Jiuzhaigou, became a provincial-level nature reserve in 1993.

Giant pandas, also known as panda bear or panda, are native to south central China and an endangered species, which are estimated to be only about 1,590 in number today.
