The name of the limited edition car was inspired by the famous, expansive desert and by the atomic number of gold. McLaren Automotive noted that the Al Sahara 79 was specifically created for the Middle Eastern car market, according to AutoBlog.

Moreover, the special edition 650S model has a marvelous pearl white paint job combined with 24-carat gold particles. The gold was included to provide some luster to the Al Sahara 79.

Aside from this, the Al Sahara 79 features a white and deep gold color scheme in the car's interior and contrast stitching to convey utmost royalty. McLaren's exclusive automobile also has a carbon-fiber trim along with glossy back wheels and a retractable top.

Along with the Al Sahara 79, McLaren will also deliver an orange Sports Series 570S and a white McLaren P1 with orange accent. The display of three vehicles by the British high-performance automaker will be a first in the Middle East.

The executive director of the McLaren Special Operations division, Paul Mackenzie, also said that the Al Sahara 79 was a result of taking in the suggestions of McLaren car owners and utilizing the company's exquisite craftsmanship to provide a distinct, luxurious vehicle, according to Top Gear.

In total, only five Al Sahara 79 special edition cars were built to express how limited the model is, even for McLaren enthusiasts.
