Samsung will have a choice to be more aggressive or stand firm on their standard practices.

This is regarding the release date of the latest iteration of their flagship carrier, the Galaxy S7.

Rumors about the release date have as early as January, according to CNET report specifically to compete with iPhone 6S which released in September. That will narrow the purchase window down to three months.

However, that would go against their usual practice of releasing their flagship phones during the week of the annual Barcelona Mobile World Congress or on the weeks leading up to it.

Last year, the S6and S6 Edge was unveiled on March 1, but next year's Barcelona MWC is slated on February 22 to 25. The safer bet is for Samsung to release close to that date.

The report also cited that Samsung has finalized the design for the S7 last September, thus, production can begin soon.

Since the design has already been settled, one aspect that can be determined is the price, and Digital Spy reports that there have been predictions which tag the S7 price as 10% lower than the launch price of its predecessor.

This was mentioned as a prediction from China-based analyst Pan Jiutang. This time, though, Samsung is not looking at Apple as competition but rather, other flagship phones like Moto X Style, Huawei Mate and One Plus 2 which all offer high end specs at a cheaper price.

Samsung may not drop its price to compete directly with these phones but they want to narrow the gap, relying on their brand recognition to increase sales.
