In the mainland, Cheung's album will be exclusively distributed by Chinese site Tencent based on a 60-million-yuan-worth deal.

In a press conference held on Dec. 9, the actor and singer shared how they came up with the album which, according to him, incorporates folk and English rock elements.

The album's release was originally set in October when two of his other singles--"The Rest of Time" and "Tears of Time"--were first released.

However, since the launch was delayed for two months, Cheung took the opportunity to practice more on some of his other new songs.

Meanwhile, Cheung's record company decided to present him an award to 15 of his bestselling albums during his 30th anniversary in the industry, garnering an unbeaten record of up to 60 million copies sold to date.

"Regardless of the sales figure, every album represents a milestone. I value each one of them very much," he stated, adding that he wishes to explore different areas in the music industry and revealed that he is in the process of choosing a script for a musical for 2015.

Jacky Cheung, born on July 10, 1961, in Hong Kong, began his musical career after he won at an amateur singing contest in 1984 where he performed Michael Kwan's "Fatherland."

Thereafter, he was signed by then Polygram Records, now known as the Universal Music Group.

Though he did not immediately rise to stardom in the music industry that is mostly dominated by Leslie Cheung, Anita Mui, Alan Tam and Danny Chan, his talent and will to pursue his musical career did not waver.

In 1985, he won his first two major awards, one from the 1985 Jade Solid Gold Top 10 Awards and the other from 1985 RTHK Top 10 Gold Songs Awards.
