The DeMarcus Cousins situation has led to some of the most interesting scenarios from the armchair GMs.
While these two trade scenarios are hypothetical and unlikely to happen, it would be hard to say that the Kings would not think about it.
This is from the Real GM forum user 'rugbyrugger23' which has the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Sacramento Kings exchanging frontlines: DeMarcus Cousins and Kosta Koufos to the Cavs in exchange for Kevin Love and Timofey Mozgov.
This trade works on the Real GM checker after the moratoriums expire (January).
This was very intriguing because the Kings have a young center who may become a defensive stud in the future in Willie Cauley-Stein. What the Kings lack is a power forward and Kevin Love used to be the best at the position. Maybe he can reach those heights again when with the Kings make him the first option.
Only this time, he will have Rajon Rondo(with whom he is close with, visiting Boston in summer 2014) who wants to prove himself again as his point guard. Love will also have Rudy Gay at the small forward spot and of course, Mozgov is the center-he may start and WCS may come off the bench for a while.
For the Cavaliers, a DeMarcus Cousins pairing would be scary, to say the least, and if someone can rein in Boogie, it should be the King. This will also allow the expensive Tristan Thompson to get a starting role. Koufos could be the reserve center and the oft-injured Anderson Varejao will take the third center.
An underlying factor in this trade is the roller-coaster relationship between Kevin Love and LeBron James. A report by Cleveland.com has shown that while it is better now, it's not entirely solved.
It's intriguing how a Cousins-LeBron pairing would work if it was difficult with Love, and that's precisely why the trade is unlikely to happen for all its perceived merits. The Cavs need to concentrate on winning the title and they're unlikely to break what they've built, even if it could be something better.
