"Birdman" took the lead in the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, which were announced in Hollywood on Dec. 10.

The dark show business comedy "Birdman" led with four nominations, followed by "Boyhood", which was filmed over 12 years, with three nominations.

Michael Keaton, "Birdman" star, was given recognition for his portrayal of Riggan Thomson. Edward Norton, who played an antagonizing theater star, and Emma Stone, who played as the daughter of Thomson, also received recognition for their supporting roles.

"An ensemble like this hardly ever comes around, and all of us made this very unique film work - (led) by our maestro, director Alejandro Iñárritu," Keaton said.

Aside from "Birdman" and "Boyhood," "The Imitation Game" and "The Theory of Everything," an adaptation of Stephen Hawking's life, also received recognition for the stars' individual performances and ensemble casts.

Meanwhile, on SAG's TV nominations, House of Cards won by three nominations in the drama category and Modern Family led in the comedy category with four nominations.

In addition, Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch won the most nominations in SAG's Best Actor category, in which he received accolades for playing as the famous British mathematician and computer scientist Alan Turing in "The Imitation Game" and for his lead role in the hit series "Sherlock: His Last Vow," the season 3 finale.

Jennifer Aniston was nominated first time for the SAG Best Actress Award for her role in "Cake."

The Screen Actors Guild awards are slated for next year on Jan. 25. The award ceremony will be airing live on TBS and TNT.
