Microsoft has added a host of new features to its note-taking app OneNote. The latest updates bet on improving cross-platform functionality to improve the software's acceptability, capacity, reach and user experience on both mobile devices and PC.

Announced on Microsoft's official blog, Microsoft OneNote now sports enhanced ability to add audio and files to notes on iOS devices. The new audio feature allows recording voice samples while using the app on iPhone or iPad by just clicking on the Insert and Record buttons. To make OneNote a better option for iPad Pro users, updates focus on the augmentation of capabilities, including optimum screen resolution that fits well with the device's big screen.

Recognizing the importance of the Android platform for OneNote popularity, a Badge has been added to the app's intended version. Based on Facebook chat heads, this button is the direct gateway to quickly open and add notes, APK Mirror reported. With a gentle touch, users can take pictures or make notes directly. This effectively facilitates continued multitasking eliminating the need to swap notes.

As expected, the OneNote Windows version provides for integration of embeded online videos and content from Vimeo, Office Mix and YouTube with notes. However, this Online Video button is only for Office 365 users.

The new and useful features, a part of the November cycle updates, are certain to push the reputation of OneNote as the numero uno cross-platform note taking software.

Ever since its first release in 2003, OneNote is being continuously updated by Microsoft to build of its customer base. The initial attempts were targeted to make it more Windows specific. However, of late, the focus is on enhancing features for hand-held devices using Android and iOS operating systems.

Massive OneNote updates released this November have their lion's share for these two platforms, though qualitative there are more qualitative additions to the Windows version. In early 2016, the note-taking software is expected to have many more major add-ons.
