If recent report by NPD group is to be believed, Microsoft has gained its biggest success through sale of Xbox in this holiday season.

This holiday season favored Microsoft over Sony as Xbox One sold off more units compared to its competitor PlayStation. Sony reduced the price of Playstation from $399.99 to $349.99, but the company still could not keep up with the competition from its rival as Microsoft previously won sale over Sony in April.

NPD has not released any official note on the quantity or exact sales figure; however, it is estimated that Microsoft Xbox One has made a sale of 303,000 units while PlayStation made only to 275,000 units during this holiday season.

VP of Xbox Marketing corporate confirmed with Gamespot that Xbox One grew to attain almost 81 percent growth in the U.S. market compared to that of October 2014, which could be attributed to exclusives and the greatest game collection that is lining up the gaming console.

Yet another factor that affected growth of Xbox One is the number of exclusives that was released through gaming console during this holiday season. Launch of "Halo 5," along with purchase option for additional hardware components, marched Microsoft to taste its biggest success this year. "Rise of Tomb Raider," on the other hand, is waiting its release in Xbox console and it needs to be seen if history repeats this month too.

Sony also had handful of exclusive releases last month that includes "Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance" and "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection"; however, "Halo 5" series topped its first position in charts driving purchase of Xbox consoles.
