"The Colbert Report" fans said, "Goodbye, Stephen Colbert" on Dec. 18, Thursday when the Comedy Central show ended after nine years.

"I am an emotionless, igneous news rock," Stephen Colbert told the audience at the beginning of the final episode, which is technically at the end of "The Daily Show" when Jon Stewart cut to his set briefly. Stewart wanted to see how his friend Colbert was keeping up on his last "The Colbert Report" episode.

"If this is your first time tuning into 'The Colbert Report,'" Colbert greeted his fans. "I have some terrible news."

Colbert went on to announce "a little happy news" about the raffle for his anchor desk and his adjoining fireplace set, which had raised $313,420 for charity.

Featured during the final episode were the Grim Reaper, Big Bird, Andy Cohen, Arianna Huffington, George Lucas, Henry Kissinger, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Randy Newman, Barry Manilow, James Franco, Katie Couric, Howard Stern, Patrick Stewart, U.S. Sen. Cory Booker and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio among others.

An International Space Station astronaut, troops in Afghanistan and Bill Clinton also made a video cameo.

Moreover, Colbert declared himself immortal in his recurring segment "Cheating Death with Dr. Stephen T. Colbert, D.F.A." where he dispatched death with a bullet. Later on, he was last seen beside Alex Trebek in the backseat of Santa's sleigh gliding through the clouds.

In October 2005, "The Colbert Report" debuted as a parody of the show hosted by Bill O'Reilly of Fox News Channel.

Colbert's fans are aware that they will say, "Hello, Stephen Colbert" in a few months. It has been recently confirmed that Colbert will take over David Letterman as the new host of CBS' "Late Show," which will end in May 2015.
