Coffee brewers manufacturer Keurig ordered a recall for more than 7 million units of its single-serve coffee brewing devices due to some machines malfunctioning, spewing hot liquids and injuring a number of its consumers.

The machine that is involved for the Keurig recall is its Mini Plus brewers that were manufactured within 2009 up to 2014. Around 200 reports of accidents, 90 of which are burn related, related to the brewer have been received by the American manufacturer.

Consumers who bought the machine involved in the Keurig recall can contact the firm so that they can receive a free repair kit, which will fix the Mini Plus, according to the firm.

The Vermont-based firm advised the users to not be near the brewer and to refrain from brewing more than two cups.

More than 6 million of the units for the Keurig recall are located in the U.S., with about 6,000 in Canada. The brewers were sold with a price tag averaging $100 both at online shops and retailers such as Walmart, Target, Kohl's and Kmart.

The Keurig recall units have an I.D. number starting with "31" and a K10 model number that can be found on the product's bottom.

According to a filing in November, the potential issues regarding the Mini Plus brewers were told to Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The former said that the firm reported 17 brewer-related minor burns in Canada.

Suzanne DuLong, a spokeswoman for Keurig, said that there are currently no filed lawsuits against the company regarding the brewer injuries or the Keurig recall.

DuLong said that the firm is working to find out how many incidents were reported in the U.S. and Canada are involved with the brewers associated with the Keurig recall.

Nicolaus & Co analyst Mark Astrachan said the Keurig recall is "unlikely to be material," however, he also noted that the brand perception could be "hurt."
