Comedian Adam Sandler was once again listed top on the Forbes' list of Hollywood's most overpaid actors, leaving behind Johnny Depp and Tom Hanks, the magazine reported on Tuesday.

Sandler, who earned the highest salary in spite of low box office returns, was listed as number one on Forbes list of overpaid actors for the second consecutive year.

According to EW, while making the list of annual ranking, Forbes compared earnings of the top Hollywood actors from their Celebrity 100 list.

The last three mega films of the celebs before June 2014, the cutoff date, were considered while preparing the list. The revenue and production budget, as shown in Box Office Mojo, was also taken into account. Small and animated films, or limited movies, were not considered.

It was found that for every $1 that Sandler was paid, his movies made an average of $3.20. As per Forbes, this is the lowest return on any actor, considering the investment made.

Even though Sandler's last film "Grown Ups 2" was a hit and fetched $246 million at the worldwide box office, it could not cover up for his previous flops - "Jack and Jill" and "That's My Boy."

Johnny Depp thus came second after Sandler, with his films making an average of $4.10 for every single dollar paid. Depp, who is riding high on the fame of his "Pirates of the Caribbean" films, has had his share of flops, "The Lone Ranger" and "Dark Shadows."

The "Night at the Museum: Secrets of the Tomb" star Ben Stiller came third in the Forbes list of overpaid actors with a return of $4.80 for each dollar paid, due to his misses - "Tower Heist" and "The Watch".

Ryan Reynolds was listed fourth in the magazine with a $4.90 return. His comic film "R.I.P.D." was one of the biggest flops of the year.

On the fifth spot was Tom Hanks, with a return of $5.20 for every single dollar paid, owing to his flop show in one of the biggest budget films "Cloud Atlas."
