"The Mindy Project" season 4 episode 11 titled "The Lahiris and The Castellanos" showed the onset of pre-marriage jitters among Mindy (Mindy Kapling) and Danny (Chris Messina) as their parents took over to plan their wedding, much to their frustration.
"The Mindy Project" season 4 episode 11 began with the return of Danny back in the show after a brief hiatus in which he had gone to California to take care of his ailing father. In the opening scene, Mindy and Danny were lying next to each other when the latter proposed to fix the wedding date as soon as possible.
Mindy and Danny visited his mother Annette (Rhea Perlman) who was shown excited to plan her son's wedding to the extent that she even forced Mindy to choose a terrible, nunlike wedding dress for her ceremony. Mindy was clearly annoyed but went with the flow when she learned that Danny's first wife excluded Annette from all the wedding planning.
Mindy's parents gave a surprise when they arrived unannounced and decided to throw an engagement party. Both Mindy and Danny were shown anxious that their parents might not get along well.
At the party, tension was sensed easily between Annette and Sonu (Sakina Jaffrey) when Lahiris announced that they would be paying entirely for the wedding which they wanted to be held in Boston. Also Annette felt further frustrated when she came to know that Mindy had picked another short skimpy dress for her wedding.
On the other hand, Mindy was shown torn between two extreme super extra-sexist in her life, Danny and Jody (Garret Dillahunt). While Jody insisted her to accompany her on Baby Later business trip, Danny was not convinced why Mindy could not stop working and be just a stay-at-home mother.
Danny and Mindy ended up arguing after which Danny stormed away. Mindy surprisingly received support from Annette who cheered her to pursue her professional dreams.
At the college conference, Mindy and Jody were giving a presentation about freezing their eggs to college girls when Danny showed up to show his support. However, Mindy and Danny still did not appear on same page as Danny believed that Mindy can still be at home and work for her business plan on weekends.
As the season is heading towards mid-seaosn finale on Dec. 8, it seems that Mindy and Danny will rethink about getting married and the season is likely to end in a cliffhanger.
