Rosamund Pike and Julianne Moore wore black ensembles for the Variety's Creative Impact Awards & 10 Directors to Watch Brunch, Just Jared reported.
Pike donned a black fitted long-sleeved top and a pleated black and white skirt. The "Gone Girl" actress completed the look with tie-up heels. Moore sported a solid black peplum top and a pleated black skirt complete with jeweled stilettos, according to Daily Mail.
At the brunch, Moore presented the Variety Creative Impact in Acting award to her "Crazy, Stupid, Love" co-star Steve Carell. The actress said that her frequent screen partner has created an impact in her acting career. Moore also praised Carell for being a genuine actor Variety reported.
Meanwhile, Pike presented the Creative Impact Award in Directing to Rob Marshall. Marshall is behind hit musicals such as "Chicago," "Annie," and "Into the Woods." The actress revealed that she wanted to meet Marshall for a long time.
Chris Rock who gave a speech at the event for his Creative Impact in Comedy award said that the stars are "trolling for an Oscar vote." The actor campaigned for votes by saying that it's his mother's birthday and he would take her with him if he gets nominated but would opt for Fatburger if he is not, according to USA Today.
The Oscars may be a stiff competition for Pike and Moore as they were predicted to be nominated for Best Actress. Both stars also received honors from the 2015 Palm Spring Film International Festival Award on Saturday. Pike received the Breakthrough Performance of an Actress award for "Gone Girl" and Moore accepted the Desert Palm Achievement Award for "Still Alice."
As of this time, they are against each other for the Golden Globes Best Actress Award. Pike is nominated for her role as Amy Dune in "Gone Girl" while Moore is nominated for her portrayal of Dr. Alice Howland in "Still Alice."
