Marvel and Fox set their differences aside to bring new "X-Men" superheroes on television.

Marvel has long been tiptoeing around to bring some of its more popular properties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe because Fox owns the rights to "X-Men," and the word "mutant" has been synonymous with men with superpowers for as long as the superhero genre has existed. According to Vulture, the proposal for the collaboration has been on the table for a while now.

As part of Fox and Marvel's agreement, "Hellfire" and "Legion" television series are in the pipeline. Both will be part of Fox's X-Men Universe and not of MCU.

Set in the late 1960s, "Hellfire" will follow a young special agent who discovers a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities. She works with millionaires in their quest to rule the world. The group is known as "The Hellfire Club," a sinister organization in the comics that made its appearance in the film "X-Men: First Class."

"Legion," on the other hand, will follow the journey of David Haller, a diagnosed schizophrenic who may have superpowers. The character is popularly known as Charles Xavier's (Professor X), son in the comics.

"Hellfire" will air on FOX, while "Legion," will air on the adult-oriented cable network FX, which is also owned by Fox.

Marvel clarified the extent of involvement between the two parties. Fox will handle the production part and Marvel will co-produce.

"We are thrilled to partner with Marvel to bring this world to television and build upon the vibrant mythology that has captivated fans for years," David Madden, president of entertainment division at Fox Broadcasting company, said.

"These powerful and dynamic characters are complicated and larger-than-life, the pace and visual imagination are unrelenting, and the story takes place during one of the most explosive eras in recent history. We are so looking forward to working with this incredibly talented team," he added.
