Users who have the Google Calendar app on either Android or iOS devices will receive an update that would allow the service to set reminders that integrate with other Google apps.

Even if an event has not been scheduled, Google Calendar will still take notes and consistently remind the user about the task until it gets removed or accomplished eventually.

Likewise, some of the practical uses of the added support for setting reminders are that people could put notes about going to the grocery or to the doctor for a medical appointment, according to PC World.

One incredible characteristic of the reminder support is that Google Calendar will utilize the information provided by the user to automatically relate a task with a relevant individual's contact number. Everything that is included in the knowledge graph of Google Calendar helps the app create connections between reminders and people.

Moreover, any reminder added becomes integrated into the whole Google ecosystem, which means that Google Keep and Google Now will also be updated with the changes in Google Calendar.

Ideally, an iOS or Android user can use the voice assistant from Google Now to add reminders and then have various Google services ask about the task's completion.

While Android and iOS will both get the new, important update, Google has also noted that the web version will be having the feature eventually.

In other news, the new feature of Microsoft Outlook could serve as a competitor to Google Calendar, according to Clapway. The announcement of Microsoft FindTime for Outlook meant that users of the service will eventually be able to make appointment and even hand out invites to people upon confirmation.

Microsoft FindTime will also give the best possible times and dates for having a meeting, whether at work or at school. Collaboration is also welcomed since other people can suggest other schedules and have a voting period. More importantly, the new Microsoft widget can send invites to Gmail, Yahoo and other email accounts.

FindTime is currently available for Outlook web, Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2016.
