Expect the best Nexus smartphone ever as the 2016 will reportedly be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processing chip with Google lining up two trusted OEMs as device builders - LG and Huawei. The handset on release date will likely run on Android N, rumored as sequel to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The latest buzz from China, where the Nexus 2016 devices will be assembled, indicate that Huawei, aside from being assigned to the third-generation Nexus 7, will again take charge of the Nexus 6P follow up. The report came out following the reports that LG, which made the Nexus 5X for Google this 2015, is likely to be tapped for the 2016 version.

While Google is not commenting on the matter, it is highly likely that the two vendors will be contracted anew for the refresh of both the 5X and 6P. Both devices won rave reviews from tech experts and Android fans alike, which likely convinced Google to extend its business relationship with LG and Google for at least one more year.

But really what excites about the latest Nexus 2016 is the likelihood that the device main engine is none other than the SD 820 chip, which according to GSM Arena will power the big Android flagships to come out next year. As the likes of Samsung, Sony, LG and Motorola will rely on Qualcomm made chip for their respective hero phones Google is most likely to join the bandwagon.

And if the latest SD 820 benchmark results are of any indication, Tech Times listed the possible killer features packed with the Nexus 2016 flagship smartphone:

Increased CPU performance

SD 820 packs a quad-core Kyro chip that will easily overwhelm the Cortex-A57 cores of the Snapdragon 810. This translates to increased might, speed and stability in significant notches.

Adreno 530 GPU

The new Qualcomm chip will boast of an Adreno 530 graphic engine that fully supports Vulkan and OpenGL ES 3.1 + AEP. In other words, Nexus 2016 phone users are in for the best mobile device graphic treat ever.

No more overheating concerns

While Qualcomm consistently dismiss the reports of overheating plaguing the SD 810, it appears that the chipmaker silently resolved the issue. The SD 820 is built around the 14-nanometer architecture that completely eliminates the possibility of thermal throttling, Tech Times said.

More energy efficient

Technical reviews have so far indicated that compared to the SD 810, the 820 eats up less power and theoretically can extend battery life by up to 30%. And with the tweaks applied on the Android mobile operating system, this claim is more likely to be realized or even pushed a bit further.

Early rumors say that Google plans to introduce Android N via its annual I/O Developers Conference in late May 2016. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow successor is said to power the Nexus 2016 devices as always the case in every Nexus launch.
