Colbert was quoted as saying that simply being on "The Late Show with David Letterman" was one of the highlights of his career. Imagine his level of enthusiasm when he was offered the part of the host in that show. Letterman has given Colbert his blessing with full heart without showing any iota of regret that his replacement is about to take over.

Reportedly, Colbert has signed a five-year deal with CBS for this show. Now that the date of the premiere has been announced, the producers are really excited and looking forward to the new chapter of "The Late Show."
