Samsung has set the Galaxy S7 release date on March 2016 with the introduction likely scheduled a month earlier. Among the killer features packed with the Android flagship device is a pressure-sensitive touch screen that is similar to the 3D Touch deployed by Apple with the iPhone 6S, a new report said.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the sequel to the Galaxy S6 will officially roll out March of next year or around the same time that the S6 was unboxed this 2015. The news appears to debunk the rumors that Samsung plans to intro its first 2016 flagship on January via the Las Vegas CES with the commercial availability to happen on the following month.

The Journal also reported that nothing much will change in terms of the Galaxy S7 build as the handset is expected to largely mirror what was seen with the GS6. It means that the GS7 will keep the S6 design profile that experts adjudged as both solid and stunningly beautiful.

Coming from the previous models that have been criticized as cheap both in looks and feel due to the dominant plastic material, the Galaxy S6 was presented this year all wrapped in a case made of fused metal and glass. The S7 will continue on that tradition, the report said.

There are three likely notable feature upgrades that Samsung fans can expect, The Journal said. The phone's main connecting port is said to make use of the USB Type-C technology that will deliver two key benefits for users - quick power recharging and superfast data transfer.

The GS7 is also seen to upgrade in biometrics security features with the addition of retina scanning that will act in combo with the fingerprint readers that the S6 first carried.

And like the iPhone 6S, the new handset will boast of a pressure-sensitive touchscreen panel that will allow users to quickly access app features without having to launch the application. In 6S, Apple labeled as the feature as 3D Touch but it remains unclear how the Galaxy S7 render will be known.

The Journal noted on its report that the Galaxy S7 details provided so far are subject to change.

Rumored to launch with numerous editions and powered by both Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 and Samsung's Exynos 8890, the Galaxy S7 will likely be unpacked via the Barcelona Mobile World Congress on February and could be the first 2016 Android flagship to run on Marshmallow 6.0.
