Naya Rivera revealed on "The View" that she thinks "showering everyday is a white people thing," Just Jared reported.
Rivera co-hosted the show for two days and said that she only showers once every three days since it is an "ethnic" thing. The "Glee" actress commented on her husband Ryan Dorsey's showering habits.
"I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing. I can say that I am now married to a white and he showers a lot. Like, a lot - two, three times a day. I'm like, 'What are you doing?' A study says... a dermatologist says you are only supposed to shower once or twice every three days, so I'm right on the mark," Rivera said.
"The View" moderator Nicole Wallace replied that she showers three times a day. Host Rossie O'Donnell observed a shock viewer from the audience. Rivera did not only gain surprised reactions from the hosts and live audience but she earned backlash in Twitter as well, according to Mirror.
@LovesModChic posted: "I'm still not over Naya Rivera's renk batty self saying that 'ethnic' people don't shower daily because SHE showers every 3 days, girl what?."
@_Veise wrote: " I'ma tell you now, Naya Rivera is incorrect. She is wrong. Ethnic folk do not shower less than White people."
Another viewer tweeted: "Naya Rivera just says the dumbest thing ever on #TheView She said, " I believe ethnics don't shower as frequently as white people."
Rivera made light of the situation and tweeted with her username @NayaRivera. She wrote: "When you get out of the shower today, get a sense of humor. Love ya!"
Aside from the shower controversy, the actress has varied observations with regards to people's behavior depending on their ethnicity. Rivera commented that Latinos can eat an entire bowl of cherries because they love the fruit too much.
The actress added that the Vietnamese ring the doorbell seven times and in quick succession. People in India can hold their toothbrush using their feet and people in Japan are not familiar with the game hopscotch, according to E! Online.
The half Puerto Rican, quarter African-American, and quarter German Rivera continues to play as Santana in the musical show "Glee" every Friday at 9 PM on FOX.
