A hacker, having the name CTurt, confirms that the PS4 is now jailbroken officially and talks about RAM Dumping and more.
Having previously broken the news that the kernel exploit of a running PS4 had the ability to permit homebrew content to run on the console. It is also confirmed that the kernel exploit had everything to do with the jailbreak.
CTurt also confirmed that this jailbreak has the potential to Dump the RAM system from various other processes. To a newbie, this means that people are soon going to see a custom Firmware for the Playstation 4, which will be able to run homebrew content on its console. Further reports say that the Dump could be effective for FW of higher configuration, although confirmation is still awaited. For the time being, those possessing 1.76 could enjoy this on their consoles very soon.
Tweets of the hacker are now available on the internet, where everyone involved has been given thanks, and confirms that the PS4 is now officially jailbroken through a process which involved Free BSD jail (cred->cr_prison = &prison0). Based on current reports, it may b confirmed that this jailbreak can work only on 1.76 Firmware, although it can be used to work on other Firmware of higher versions, said CTurt.
It is a heartbreaking news for those who are against piracy, and many circles have condemned this jailbreak, terming it as piracy. As such, it may be noted that consumer-friendly games that are legitimate, can also be yielded by custom firmware.
