Holiday shoppers looking to snag the best smartphone buys this Christmas 2015 would do well to check out first the reviews from experts and thankfully they come aplenty via YouTube, which also function as buyers' ultimate guide no matter the budget or preference.

Before closing out 2015, notable YouTube reviewers Marques Brownlee and Jonathan Morrison posted clips of what they thought as the top smartphones that buyers must consider before shelling out some cash. Specs- and function-wise, the list that the two provided certainly fits the bill regardless if buyers are willing to spend top dollar, thereby getting the expected top-tier specs and features, or on a quest to get the best bang for the buck.

Moto X 2015

Motorola sells the third-generation Moto X as the Moto X Pure Edition in the United States or as the Moto X Style elsewhere. Starting at $400 with the likelihood of significant discount coming from retailers, the handset is hands-down the most affordable flagship out there. Morrison labelled the device as the best mid-price smartphone option in the market.

And buyers will get to unpack a near-vanilla Android phone with significantly improved camera system from the last Moto X version, Morrison added.

Google Nexus 6P made by Huawei

But if the choice is a true and pure Android device then the best bet would be the Nexus 6P, the bigger sibling of the LG-made Nexus 5X. Google said that the P in 6P is premium and truth to be told, Huawei delivered on the gadget's promises.

Two more things that Android fans can get from the Nexus 6P besides is solid and elegant build, Morrison said. The 6P shooting prowess is a huge step up from the Nexus camera predecessors and its "wicked fast," fingerprint sensor, the reviewer said.

Apple iPhone 6S Plus

Also on Morrison's list is the phablet iPhone 6S Plus, which like the iPhone 6 Plus boasts of a top-notch camera and extended battery life. And those picking out the jumbo twin of the iPhone 6S should be delighted by the device's snappy A9 processing chip, which all the more works like charm with iOS 9, the reviewer said.

Apple iPhone 6S

If the choice, however, is a not too big flagship then shoppers can never go wrong with the 2015 Apple flagship - the iPhone 6S. Per Brownlee, the 4.7-inch 6S is just the right size for users who still prefer easy screen navigation but with a comparatively bigger display real estate.

In his YouTube clip, Brownlee calls the iPhone 6S as the best compact smartphone available, certainly worth of every dollar to spend.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5

Two things are going for the fifth installment of the original phablet from Samsung, Brownlee said. For one, the Galaxy Note 5 remains the best supersized smartphone around and the device's camera system exceeds the expectation. Brownlee crowned the Note 5 as the top camera smartphone this 2015.

Motorola DROID Maxx and OnePlus X

For smartphone buyers with specific needs, Brownlee recommends the Motorola DROID Maxx and the OnePlus X. The former is way ahead of the competition for packing a battery kit that lasts for extended hours.

And the OnePlus X has the chops to become a flagship killer. Stunning build and finish, high-end specifications and dirt-cheap price for an upscale package at only $260 are among the device's features highlighted by Brownlee.
