"Castle" season 8 could be the end of the line for Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic).
According to the show's co-showrunners Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley, they are writing the finale episode for season 8 in such a way that it could serve as a conclusion for the entire TV show.
"We think the show has a lot of life in it as do these characters... That's the great thing from our side about the storytelling this year, that we do feel energized by the shake-up and what it has allowed us to do. We've tried to have a lot of fun in and around an obviously emotional subject... 'The Nose' came out great, and both 'The Last Seduction' and 'Mr & Mrs Castle" had some really delightful stuff in them. We're really happy with the results," Winter told TV Line.
When asked whether or not the series will be cancelled after season 8, Hawley revealed that this confirmation will only be given to the showrunners and producers much later on during the second half of the season.
"The reality is that the network execs won't make that decision until very late. So our plan is just to tell a satisfying story and try to wrap up the season in an exciting way," he said.
In other news, fans have mixed reactions of the fate of "Castle" season 8. Some of them believe that the ABC series should be cancelled because it's just rehashing old storylines.
Others believe that giving it another shot for season 9 is the best way to go.
