Middling squads Getafe CF (5-8-5, 20 points) and Real Betis Balompie (5-8-5, 20 points) are set to face off in the second half of the 2015-2016 La Liga season on January 9, Saturday at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
The two teams are tied on points with the same win-loss record, but Getafe is above a spot over Betis, occupying the 13th and 14th positions in the overall standings, due to a superior goals differential.
Getafe is coming off a tough 2-1 victory over Sporting Gijon on Monday at the Estadio El Molinón, as reported by SkySports.
Sporting forward Antonio Sanabria opened the game's scoring at the 16th minute as the hosts managed to take care of the 1-0 lead until the middle of the second half.
However, El Geta defender Cala and midfielder Pablo Sarabia each scored a goal late in the second half two minutes apart from each other, at the 69th and 71st, to snatch the game and the three points away from Gijon.
It was a rare road win for Getafe and manager Fran Escriba will look to take the momentum against Betis this weekend.
Meanwhile, Betis suffered a humiliating 0-4 defeat in the hands of Eibar at their own home field of Estadio Benito Villamarín last Sunday, via Soccerway.
Pepe Mel's squad was unable to answer the offensive attack of Los Armeros as four different Eibar players were able to find the back of the net during the match, namely Ander Capa, Keko, Adrian, and Borja.
It was the fifth straight winless effort for Los Beticos and the team will try to put a stop on it against the surging Getafe eleven.
The predicted result is a 2-0 victory for Getafe.
