Google is believed to be working on the successors of Nexus 5x and Nexus 6 P, dubbed the HTC Nexus M1 and S1.

Speculations are rife that Google Nexus 2016 may be packed with a smaller pressure-sensitive display, 3D touch, VR support, multitasking mode, split screen, night mode and a new settings app.

It is expected to sport 3D Touch feature, which is currently seen only in Apple's iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. The rumoured 3D Touch is supposed to come along with the package of Google's upcoming operating system, which is called Android N. It will be the successor to the current operating system, which is the Android Marshmallow.

This feature of 3D Touch will help the users to operate the device in a friendly way. This is the next gen force-sensitive technology which will make way for better applications, more life-like games and also virtual reality. The designers will be able to add more real-time temperature, texture and sound to the screens as well.

Other popular tech giants like Xiaomi, Oppo, Meizu and Vivo are also in talks of adding the much-hyped 3D touch in their upcoming devices. Gionee is already in the fore-front, with its Elife S8 phone, which comes with the 3D Touch technology.

Google Nexus 2016 is expected to come with a smaller display when compared to its predecessors. It is also reported that the upcoming Nexus 2016 phones will come with the support for Nexus VR, according to BGR.

In addition, it will come with a complete metal unibody frame, along with improved camera features and also improved OIS. It will also come with the wireless charging feature along with micro SD card slot.

Google Nexus 2016 is going to be the joint venture of HTC and Google, according to iDigital Times. This partnership is not the first time for HTC and Google. HTC launched the Google Nexus 9, which was a 9-inch tablet, in partnership with Google back in 2014. Nexus One, which was released in January 2010, was also a product of the partnership of these two tech giants.

It was reported that HTC will manufacture two Nexus phones. These two smartphones will be the counterparts to the LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Nexus 6P, which were released last year.
