Five Nights at Freddy's

"Five Nights at Freddy's" game developer Scott Cawthon is reportedly working on the sequel of his horror novel, "Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes." The new book, under Harper Teen, has a tentative release date of September 2016.

According to Youth Health Magazine, the "Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes" sequel, while months away from its target release date, has already topped Amazon's list of Young Adult Horror books. Based on the book's description, it will consist of 384 pages. For comparison, Cawthon's first book released in December, was at 466 pages long.

It is, however, possible that Cawthon is working on an entirely new novel, which is not based on the "Five Nights at Freddy's" franchise. What caused fans to speculate that the new book is a sequel is that Cawthon, himself, previously held that "Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes" is actually part of a series, which could mean that the next book may just be end up being a sequel.

Although the novel did not gain as much traction as the video game, Design & Trend reported that Cawthon is determined to write more about the series. The game developer also pointed out that fans should consider the book and video games as "separate entities." He further added that the books were based on the same source material but on different timelines.

The outlet previously reported that Cawthon received quite a backlash from fans of "Five Nights At Freddy's."  Some were clearly disappointed when the book did not offer any insight to the game. Apparently, many fans were hoping that the book will reveal answers to long awaited questions surrounding the "FNAF" franchise. Cawthon, however, insisted that fans should be able to enjoy the book without stressing themselves too much. He held that "Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes" novel is "to be enjoyed, not a mystery to be solved."

"Yes, the book is canon, just as the gamers are. That doesn't mean they are intended to fit together like two puzzle pieces," Cawthon held.

"Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes" received a 4.6 out of 5 rating on Amazon while Goodreads users rated it 4.25 out of 5 stars.
