Speculations are rife that the recently released Arianne Martell chapter from "Winds of Winter" is over three years old. The release date of the book seems to be indefinitely postponed.
Author George R. R. Martin released a chapter on Arianne Martell from his upcoming book in January 2013. The chapter is available on Archive.
On the other hand, there is a newly launched excerpt on the author's website George R R Martin. This seems to be a direct predecessor to the previously released chapter.
This revelation has shocked the fans because it implies that in the last three years the work on the upcoming book has not progressed much. Numerous public appearances, screen-writing projects and convention visits are blamed for the delay in finishing the book.
Martin released the chapter to appease the fans who are waiting anxiously for the launch of "Winds of Winter." The timing is uncanny because the TV adaptation of the series "Game of Thrones" Season 6 is also currently focusing on the Dorne angle of the story.
Martin released the first book "Game of Thrones" in 1996 followed by "A Clash of Kings" in 1998, "A Storm of Swords" in 2000 and "A Feast for Crows" in 2005. The last published book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series - "A Dance with Dragons" was released in 2011.
"Winds of Winter" release was expected in 2014 but the book is still not complete. The last two books in the series "Winds of Winter" and "A Dream of Spring" have been delayed numerous times.
There were also rumors that Martin may take the aid of a co-writer Neil Gaiman to complete the book. He is the celebrated author of "The Graveyard Book," "Stardust," "Neverwhere," and "Good Omens."
The recently released excerpt focuses on Martell and her travels to Westeros with her confidants. She needs all the help she can get in order to find out the details about the uprising led by Aegon Targaryen and Lord Connington. Targaryen and Connington are not included in the TV series by David Benioff and DB Weiss.
