‘Resident Evil 2’ Remake, ‘Resident Evil 7’ - Which will be released first?

| May 31, 2016 03:09 PM EDT

"Resident Evil 7" may be officially revealed during this year’s Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3).

It has been confirmed last year that a remake of the 1998 video game, "Resident Evil 2," has been approved and under development. Although Capcom has not provided a release date for the remake, fans were anticipating for a 2016 release, but it seems that the game will be delayed.

According to reports, the reason behind the delay was because Capcom is also developing another game for the franchise, titled "Resident Evil 7." It was said that the video game company is prioritizing the sequel over the remake, Cross Map reported.

The same report did emphasize though that no official confirmation coming from Capcom was announced on whether which of the two games should come out first. The report also cited that if the gaming company will unveil details of the sequel in the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 2016), there is a chance that the sequel will be released in 2017, and that the "Resident Evil 2" remake is going to have a 2019 release date.

It was said that the third installment of the game series, the "Resident Evil 2," was praised by critics because of its overall gameplay. Reports also claim that the biggest reason why the game is going to have a remake is because it sold a million copies, and that it was considered as the most successful single platform game of the "Resident Evil" franchise.

On the other hand, according to NSEA Voice, "Resident Evil 2" remake is going to be released ahead of the sequel. The report cited that Capcom may consider the request and demand of most of the fans to release the remake this year. It was also said that the release of "Resident Evil 2" remake this year will most likely give the production team enough time to perfectly develop "Resident Evil 7."

As of the moment, Capcom remains quite about the issue. Perhaps, during the E3 event this June 12-14, questions on which would go first may finally be answered.
