It was way back in 2007 when Valve Corporation released its "Half Life 2: Episode 2" video game. The gaming company was also reported to confirm a release of the third installment soon; however, it seems that it is not happening at all because it has been 10 long years since the confirmation of "Half Life 3."
According to reports, Valve is undeniably preoccupied with Steam. With that said, the video game company is said to be producing multiplayer games over the past years, which may have killed the company's interest to develop the third installment of their popular first person shooter franchise "Half Life."
Rumors has it that the retirement of the franchise's co-creator and lead writer, Marc Laidlaw, may have affected the development of "Half Life 3." According to Game Spot, since Laidlaw worked on the plot of all the "Half Life" installments, it is highly likely that Valve is still looking for the right person to replace him. It is also said that whether he has completed developing the plot of the long anticipated "Half Life 3" remains a mystery.
In the email of the former Valve employee to a fan, he clarified that his retirement was civil and due to his personal reasons. He said that he has no involvement now in terms of the operations of the gaming company, and has no access on confidential details. He added that he is not working on Valve or any projects of the company.
Fans are said to be really frustrated that their favorite first person shooter game is still not able to complete its story. With that said, fans reportedly created a video compilation that shows Valve's CEO Gabe Newell speaking about the status of "Half Life 3," The video was said to have showed his interview in 2005 to 2014, The Atlantic reported.
As of the moment, Valve remained mum about the issue. Despite of that, fans are still hoping that the popularity of the franchise would eventually get the attention of the gaming company to somehow make a concrete plan to develop the long awaited "Half Life 3."
