It is quite unfortunate for the fans of Half Life that the game series might end up on "Half Life 2." According to rumors, Valve may not be able to produce a third installment for the game series.
It was back in 2004 when the last "Half Life" game was released, and ten years later, there is still no confirmation on whether Valve would continue the game series and start the production of "Half Life 3."
As of the moment, news relating to the long awaited game is so rare that gamers who wanted it so much are gradually losing their enthusiasm. Perhaps the hl3.txt file that was included in the update of "DOTA 2" brought back their enthusiasm, because finally, after several years, someone took the time to provide a clue about the possibility that "Half Life 3" could be under development in secrecy.
On one hand, no one can prove that Valve is in fact producing "Half Life 3," and according to them, the insertion of hl3.txt file in last year's "DOTA 2" update was purely accidental, as what was tweeted by Steam Data Base.
Although the fate of "Half Life 3" is uncertain, fans still embrace the hope that the reported "Half Life" movie, which will be directed by J.J. Abrams (Director of "Star Wars: Force Awakens," "Star Trek," "Star Trek Into Darkness" and other notable films), can trigger excitement among the loyal waiting gamers.
Upon an interview conducted by IGN to Abrams, he confirmed that the "Half Life" movie is in development and that the writers are working on it. Fans are really anxious about the latest update of their favorite game, even if it is in the form of a film. For all one knows, this could be their chance to hopefully stimulate Valve to pursue the development of "Half Life 3."
The upcoming "Half Life" film would most likely revolve around the first and second "Half Life" game, and maybe somehow, finish the film by revealing a glimpse of the anticipated yet unconfirmed "Half Life 3."
