"Scandal" Season 6 may be the last season of Shondaland production company.

The top-rating political thriller TV series "Scandal" Season 6's storylines is said to be much kinder to Olivia Pope, after her intense struggles in Season 5. "Scandal" Season 6 will also introduce some level of optimism to its storylines.

According to Entertainment Weekly, writer and producer Shonda Rhimes has previously revealed that the "Scandal" Season 6 would be kind to Olivia, as the character deserves something better after going through a lot of agony and frustrations. It is also hinted that in "Scandal" Season 6, President Fitzgerald Grant (played by Tony Goldwyn) will pursue Olivia Pope (played by Kerry Washington) after stepping down from the office.

As expected, many fans of the TV series got worried about the possible exit of Goldwyn from the show; however, the producers of the TV series reassured the fans that the actor will not be axed. The character he is playing will remain in "Scandal" Season 6, but the details of Fitz's new character development are still not divulged to the public.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the executive producer of the show, Betsy Beers, expressed her optimism on Goldwyn's character. The plot twists in his storyline have a lot of possibilities, which include the possible rekindling of romance with Olivia.

The executive producer was quoted saying "When Fitz is out of office, I think he could do anything he wanted. I don't want him to move to Vermont and make jam immediately - I'm not a big fan of that - but I think he could become an advocate, a judge, a private eye or join OPA or have his own post-Scandal show where he does anything. Spinoff!"

It can be remembered that in Season 5, Olivia and Fitz split up and she had an abortion. The romance between Olivia and Jake became the focus, while Fitz started a new love affair with a reporter.

Jake was able to escape the manipulation of Olivia's father as she helped him become the running mate of Mellie (played by Bellamy Young) in the presidential elections. Olivia and Jake revealed their love for each other, making it seem unlikely that she would ever reunite with Fitz.

Meanwhile, the showrunner hinted that the show's upcoming season would be more optimistic, and fans will never see abortion and violent deaths again as part of "Scandal" Season 6's storylines.
