As the mobile tech enthusiasts and fans eagerly digest each and every rumor about Samsung Electronics' upcoming premium handsets - be it Galaxy Note 6 (or 7) and the S8 - a recent news said that the Korean-based giant is prepping a new clamshell handset to be released only in China.
Clamshell smartphone is not considered a trend anymore in the larger parts of the world as it does not appear so "smart" anymore, but acknowledging the huge mobile market in China, Samsung has continuously released such handsets in the big Asian country.
The South Korea-based company will be releasing a new high-end clamshell smartphone with the internal codename Veyron, according to a recent report by Sam Mobile.
As the new handset shared a moniker with one of the most expensive car in the world, Bugatti Veyron, the upcoming device is believed to have a hefty price tag. It can also be noted that its predecessor, the SM-2016, shared almost the same price tag as Samsung's premium S6 slate.
Samsung Veyron will reportedly feature a huge boost on its precursor's specifications. One of the known upgrade is that the new clamshell device will be featuring a powerful Exynos 8890, the latest octa-core chip. This is better compared to SM-2016's Exynos 7420.
While Samsung has no official announcement to the upcoming handset's specifications, report said it will feature the same dual 3.9-inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen display, which is the same screen specification of SM-2016.
In terms of its shooters, Veyron will sport a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front shooter - a downgrade to its predecessors which is packed with 16MP back shooter and the same front camera. The upcoming clamshell device will also feature the same glass-and-metal build of Samsung Galaxy S7. It is not, however, known if the Samsung Veyron will be a waterproof device like the Galaxy S7.
Meanwhile, in a related update, President and CEO at Samsung Telecommunications America Gregory Lee recently confirmed the upcoming release of the Korea-based mobile giant's first and radical foldable phone. The executive said that the new smartphone "is just around the corner" during the Future Mobile conference, as reported by Recode.
While the company executive remains mum on the new phones' specifications, it is rumored that Samsung will release two bendable smartphones next year.
