Rumors about the awaited handsets from the Korea-based tech giant just keep on coming, and one of which is a recent report that reveals a new Samsung Galaxy S8, which will have a superb and unique high-definition display.
The new addition to Samsung's high-end Galaxy S series will have a 4K high-resolution display according to a research note from market analyst group UBI Research, as cited by a recent report from the Korea Herald.
Since Samsung will reportedly equip its new handset with 4K Ultra HD or 3840 x 2160 resolution Super AMOLED display, this will certainly be a big boost after the company's previous Quad HR or 2,560 x 1,440 resolution screens. If this will materialize, Galaxy S8 will be the first handset from the company that will have the newest screen technology.
While Sony has already released Z5 premium with a 4K panel in 2015, Samsung will still be the first smartphone-maker firm to feature such display if reports are accurate.
An official from the Seoul-based research firm also noted that during the Society for Information Display in California last March, Samsung Electronics has displayed a 5.5 Ultra High-definition 4K display packed with a 860ppi density. This new screen technology is presumed to be launched with the company's upcoming high-end Galaxy S8.
The move towards a better screen technology will be able to give Samsung a head start against its fierce mobile firm competitors. Aside from this, a device featuring a 4K display is also a step towards embracing the growing virtual reality applications, as reported by iDigital Times.
It can be recalled that Samsung was among the manufacturers mentioned by California-based tech giant Google when it announced its VR initiative called DayDream at Google I/O last month. The company said that Samsung is among the long list of smartphone makers who plan to produce virtual-reality ready of "Daydream ready" handsets before 2016 ends.
While a lot of rumors have been said about Samsung Galaxy S8, the Korea-based tech giant remains mum.
