Sony is bringing PlayStation VR demos to retailers across the United States in an effort to increase the awareness of their virtual reality product and to convince users to buy them at launch.

The PlayStation VR has made a pretty big splash during the E3 2016 conference presentation of Sony. They have even unveiled the new PS Aim Controller along with the Farpoint video game for the full virtual reality experience.

VR seems to be dominated by the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift but they are geared towards the PC gamers. NVIDIA and AMD has even made VR gaming more affordable by revealing the cheaper but more powerful GTX 1080, GTX 1070 and the $200 Radeon RX 480.

Sony is rolling out the PlayStation VR demos in 30 Gamestop and BestBuy locations plus 300 more stores, Mashable has learned. The Best Buy and Gamestop demos will start on Friday while the other stores will start next week at June 24.

PC gamers are already enjoying VR gaming with their VR headsets while console gamers are still stuck with the traditional method. There are rumors that the Oculus Rift might make its way to the Xbox One Project Scorpio but there hasn't been any confirmation yet.

Sony's PlayStation VR will only be available for a limited time while some stores will not have it all day, Engadget reported. The strategy could be to let more players anticipate the experience which could mean more sales when it finally launches on October 13.

The company has even confirmed the existence of the PlayStation NEO that has been rumored for several months. They also confirmed that it will be able to run the PlayStation VR as well possibly with better graphics and smoother framerates.

One of the most anticipated titles for the console VR experience is the recently unveiled Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. Players will also be able to play as Captain Kirk in the upcoming Star Trek Bridge Crew.

Players will just have to settle for the PlayStation VR demos for now at the Best Buy and Gamestop locations. The other 300 stores will open their demos next week but players will have to be fast as it won't be available every minute and every hour.
