'Left 4 Dead 3' release date and updates: Game to be finally released in 2017?

Although Valve has remained quiet about the whole “Left 4 Dead 3” rumor, fans are saying that the game will be released by early next year, while “Half Life 3” is going to have a 2018 release date.

After the release of the last "Left 4 Dead" installment last 2009, the upcoming installment, "Left 4 Dead 3," is rumored to be coming in 2017. Although there have been no specific details which prompted this speculation, fans presume the game has long been overdue for another sequel, and 2017 maybe the year where developers can finally unveil it after not being confirmed in this year's E3.

The first two installments were released by Turtle Rock studios. For the upcoming "Left 4 Dead" sequel, it has been reported that Valve will be handling the next game. This was after Turtle Rock Studios Founder Phil Robb confirmed they will not be doing the game anymore, and said that Valve will be the one handling the development for the third installment.

Another report added some details related to the game's development which nclude the names and identity of the rumored four frontline characters. These characters are said to be comprised of one female and three male characters each with unique personalities. The female would be Katherine, and the remaining three would be Keenan the comic book nerd, Irvin the gangster, and Garret Jr. the Kenpo fighter, Express reported.

Additional details pertain to the six different campaigns that will also be included in "Left 4 Dead 3." These campaigns are said to be comprised of Crashland, No Mercy, Cliff-Hanger, Impasse, Inquisitor and Destination. It was also rumored that developers have already completed the basic gameplay of "Left 4 Dead 3" which means it is already past of its preliminary stages of development.

Meanwhile, for other "Left 4 Dead" news, Microsoft announced that "Left 4 Dead" is part of those games which received backwards compatibility for Xbox One, Game Spot reported. Nearly 200 games have been granted with the Xbox One backwards-compatibility program.

As of the moment, other details surrounding the "Left 4 Dead" sequel have not yet been spilled. Aside from "Left 4 Dead 3," another game anticipated by fans is "Half Life 3" which is also included in the list of pending games already up for launching. The said game, like "Left 4 Dead 3," has been anticipated to launch by fans as its last installment was released last 2004.
