Valve has been quiet about the highly anticipated Half-life 3 game but there are speculations that it will be finally coming in 2018 and a trailer will be released at the upcoming E3 2016.
It has been more than 13 years since the last Half-Life 2 game was released for the public. Valve saw success in the sequel to their original game and many are now wondering why it is taking them too long to follow up the series.
The very first Half-Life was also an unexpected success during a time when first-person shooters were just starting to boom. It also paved the way for two of Valve's most successful franchises: Counter Strike and Team Fortress.
Rumors are now pointing that the Half-Life 3 game would finally be launched in 2018 when it will be the 20th anniversary of the franchise, Gamenguide reported. Another reason for the late release is because Valve would also be launching Left 4 Dead 3 next year.
There are also speculations that the next game from Valve would also feature full VR support. This makes sense considering that the VR headsets are being released this year and there could be cheaper and better models by the time the game is released.
In addition, Valve also has their HTC Vive VR headset. Half-Life 3 could be featured in their own Steam VR platform too.
Consoles would also be getting the new game from Valve. They could be released for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, Crossmap reported.
However, the new reports for the PlayStation NEO and the Xbox Two does raise some questions. Half-Life 3 could then be supported on the new consoles instead especially with the PC gamers upgrading to the new NVIDIA GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 video cards.
The upcoming E3 2016 event could also be where a trailer for the new game could be released. It could be a full trailer or just a teaser of what Gordon Freeman will be up to in the sequel.
Fans will have to wait for the event to know whether Valve is working on the Half-Life 3 game. There could also be a VR demo using the HTC Vive.
