Actress Gillian Anderson and actor David Duchovny arrive at the premiere of Fox's 'The X-Files' at the California Science Center on January 16, 2106 in Los Angeles, California.

The 2016 revival of the limited six-episode "X Files" series has brought fans asking for more. Now with rumors that the longest-running science-fiction in Fox's history is making a comeback in Season 11, Gillian Anderson, the lead female star, who plays Dana Scully hinted on not returning to the series' new season.

In May, Fox Chairman and CEO Dana Walden and Gary Newman announced during a conference call that new episodes are coming. However, during a phone patched interview with Deadline in late May, Anderson revealed that she was not contacted by Fox to do a follow up on the series.

"I'm open to the conversation, though they haven't come to us yet," Anderson told the news site. "I have no clue when they're going to. I'm getting on with the rest of my life and I'm booking other jobs, so if it is indeed something that they would like to continue, then that conversation will need to be had."

Anderson, who plays the role of a medical doctor and FBI special agent assigned in "X Files" claimed that she was clueless if a negotiation would happen and if ever, she has no idea when it is going to take place. When asked about the possibility to take the role again, she answered quickly that it is something that she is looking forward to given that she is working with her longtime co-star David Duchovny.

Duchovny, who was popular for the portrayal of a special FBI agent Fox Mulder also shared the same thoughts. In the same phone interview, he revealed that he is not expecting too much on the "X Files" 2017-2018 Season since he too was not yet approached by the Fox executives.

In other news, the Golden Globe winner has other work to get busy with if ever he would not be reprising his character in the Fox series. He is presently getting positive reviews for his role in the NBC drama series "Aquarius" set in the 1960s as a police sergeant Detective Samson Benedictus Hodiak in Los Angeles.

On the official Twitter account of Deadline Hollywood, Duchovny, who was not new to accepting awards was supported by the publication to be nominated for FYC Emmys 2016. The actor is back on the series' Season 2 since it premiered in 2015.

In his interview with Today, Duchovny shared that he is also touring for his musical debut "Hell or Highwater" and his 2015 album. At 55, the actor has not set boundaries on his talents and is still trying to branch out in other expertise.

Speaking of returning to "X Files," Duchovny revealed that he is not really expecting a revival of the Fox detective series. For the meantime, he claimed he is not closing his doors to the possibility of Season 11.
