It seems that former EXO member cannot accept that Philippines won against China in their dispute over West Philippines Sea.
In a post in his social media account, Luhan allegedly said, "China - can't be less, not even one bit./Not one part of China can be taken away." The post has been taken down not long before people took a screenshot of his post.
This post left a sour taste on his Filipino fans. Many pinoys criticized the Chinese star for not honoring the final decision of the United Nations.
However, some fans rationalized saying that it is Luhan's right to back his country, just the way most Filipinos are doing currently.
Luhan rose to stardom for being part of the phenomenal boy group EXO under S.M. Entertainment in South Korea. However, years after his debut, Luhan filed a case against his agency requesting to nullify his "slave contract". Luhan went back to China and continued to work as an entertainer due to his immense popularity. The case is still ongoing.Aside from Luhan, media organizations from Beijing claimed that the ruling as "ill-founded". The media also accused the UN of "power-play". The tweets from Chinese media prompted angered retorts from Filipinos.
UN's Decision
United Nations Arbitral Tribunal unanimously declared that Philippines has exclusive sovereign rights over the West Philippine Sea and that China's "nine-dash line" is invalid.
"The Tribunal concluded that there was no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resources within the sea areas falling within the 'nine-dash line," the statement released to the media said.
The case was heard for several months. In the final hearing, China is not present in the proceedings, refusing to recognize its authority and validity.
China put some installations on the islands located in the West Philippines Sea and drive away Filipinos ships and fishermen.
